Kristen Selvig
Administrator / Clinical Director
I have over 13 years of medical experience and a lifetime of being exposed to long-term care with an immediate family member. I knew growing up with the exposure of long-term care, that the medical industry was my calling. So far, I really enjoy not only being an advocate for the residents, but the families and employees as well. It is very rewarding.
I started off dabbling in healthcare and worked my way up to where I am now, which has given me a vast variety of experience that has really helped me grow as a medical professional. At the age of 17, I completed and received my CNA certification, I went on from there and became a pharmacy technician, then went back to school to become a phlebotomist. After working many years in a laboratory environment, I wanted to do more, so I became a nurse. I have been a nurse for eight years and have loved every aspect of the position. I started off in substance abuse and mental health. From there, I went to travel nursing, and when my daughter came it led me to pediatric nursing. I knew I wanted more though, which lead me to go back to school to become a medical facility administrator. Before coming to Byron Center Manor, I worked as an office coordinator for a therapeutic apheresis department which only confirmed my decision in wanting to manage in the healthcare industry.
Upon graduation, I immediately started my search for my forever career home. Recently, I came across an email of potential positions of which I may be interested. Right away the first one that stood out to me was Byron Center Manor. I read over the position summary and saved it as a favorite. Throughout the day I was drawn back to the job position posting–reading it over and over. I finally came to the realization that this was my calling and how perfect of a position at such a reputable facility was available in my own community.
I am a mother of a 12-year-old stepson, 6-year-old stepdaughter, 6-year-old daughter of my own and a baby boy on the way, due in October. I grew up in Dorr, I attended Corinthians College for nursing and obtained my LPN, and I also attended Baker College and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Health Administration.
