Manager: Navy Memory Care Unit
I have nine years of experience in the healthcare field within a long-term care facility. I graduated high school in 2003 and knew I wanted to be in healthcare, but I was unsure of which aspect. I attended Blue Heron Academy and received a certification in medical massage therapy in 2005, where I practiced in Traverse City, MI for the next seven years. Along my journey I knew I wanted to further my education, which led me to move to Wayland, MI to attend GRCC for Occupational Therapy. I received a job opportunity with an assisted living facility upon waiting to be accepted into the program. Upon taking the opportunity, I knew I had found my calling working with the elderly, which provided me with many opportunities to grow, which led me to my position as an aide here at Byron Center Manor. I have worked for Byron Center Manor for a year and a half now. I have worked hard to move into a building manager role for the Navy Memory Care Unit which is beyond rewarding. I have truly enjoyed working and learning many aspects of the company and loving every minute of it. I am beyond thankful for this job and the opportunities it has given me, as it takes me out of my comfort zone daily continuing to build me into the person I am today.
