I’m sure that most of you have heard the news lately that the number of COVID19 cases have risen significantly over the last few weeks. With nearly 68,000 confirmed cases, and over 6,000 deaths in Michigan alone, it is not surprising that recently, Governor Whitmer extended the visitor restrictions in all Assisted Living Facilities and nursing homes until July 24, 2020.
I know that this has not been easy on any of you, and I know how hard it is to not see your family and friends, but it’s the best thing that we can do to keep the virus out of our facility. Governor Whitmer said in her order, “…it’s crucial that we stay vigilant and work around the clock to protect our most vulnerable residents and those who have dedicated their lives to caring for them.” It only takes one person who is infected to bring the virus into a facility. While we realize that the prolonged isolation has taken a toll, the dire consequences of the virus entering our facility far outweigh any difficulty that it has caused.
Please keep in mind that at this time, we are not allowing any face to face visits with family and friends except for window visits. Windows may NOT be opened during these visits due to the fact that the virus is spread by respiratory droplets which can enter through an open window. We are asking that everyone please follow the guidelines to protect not only each and every one of you and your neighbors, but also our staff who have so diligently given up many of their freedoms to keep themselves healthy for you!
As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me directly at 616-277-5423. Thank you so much for your continued patience as we navigate this global pandemic together!
