New Visitor Regulations at Byron Center Manor

Back to Blogs

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our priority at Byron Center Manor has been, and continues to be, the health and safety of our residents. We are closely monitoring advice and policies from the Health Department, State of Michigan, and the CDC. Recently, nursing home visitation restrictions were loosened in Michigan. Here is what you need to know about planning a visit with your loved one at Byron Center Manor.

Visit Policy in Michigan

Governor Whitmer recently announced changing policies in COVID-19 restrictions allowing families to meet with their loved ones in nursing homes beginning in early March. This news came as many senior care residents and staff members were receiving COVID-19 vaccinations, including Byron Center Manor, which recently completed three on-site vaccination clinics. The updated state regulations allow residents to see visitors by appointment, both indoors or outdoors, so long as the facility has had no new COVID-19 cases in the past 14 days, all visitors are screened for COVID-19 when entering the facility, and visitors follow common safety guidelines including wearing masks and social distancing.

Visiting Your Loved Ones at Byron Center Manor

Since January, we have allowed window visitors by appointment at Byron Center Manor. Now, you can schedule an appointment for either a window visit or to see your loved one in their living space while following safety guidelines.

In addition, family members can take their loved one off-site for grocery shopping trips and appointments such as doctor visits, haircuts, dental, or chiropractic appointments. Residents may also attend religious gatherings off-site with their families. Both residents and loved ones must sign in and out and should follow safety guidelines while off-site such as wearing masks and social distancing. This policy has been in place at Byron Center Manor as of February 1st and will continue. Furthermore, Byron Center Manor residents are permitted to take overnight trips with their families on overnight or weekend trips.  For the health and safety of other residents, individuals leaving on trips will either need to ne tested 72 hours prior to return or enter a 72 hour observation period where they will be tested three consecutive days.  If you have any questions, please contact our office.
